With asymmetrical tread design, the amount of tire in contact with the road on the outside shoulder can be increased. This gives the vehicle a more stable and precise cornering, likewise maintaining a good level of high speed stability and aquaplaning resistance, which are mainly delivered by the mid parts of the tread.
